'Small Girl, Big Fight': Orland Girl With Rare Condition Celebrates Milestone 10th Birthday With Fundraiser

Savannah Taylor has a condition that causes seizures and has left her blind. Her family is grateful she has made it to her 10th birthday. Savannah Taylor, a 10-year-old girl with CDKL5, has been battling a rare condition that causes severe developmental delays and early-onset, hard-to-control epileptic seizures for nearly 10 years. She is blind, nonverbal, unable to walk, and lives with severe, life-threatening seizures. Her mother, Kelli Komar, credits her strength and resilience to Project Fire Buddies, a local nonprofit that provides support for children with critical illness. The nonprofit's 1,200+ volunteers have impacted over 750 children, with $5 million donated to support and uplift families. In celebration of Savannah's double-digit birthday, her family will hold a Halloween-themed event featuring a free taco bar, split-the-pot and raffle baskets. Proceeds will go towards Savannah's medical care and therapies, and to Saint Vincent de Paul charity, which last year donated an accessible van for the family's use.
