Airbnb Sets New Rules That Limit Checkout Chores: What IL Travelers Need To Know
Illinoisans booking an Airbnb for a getaway may soon have fewer chores standing between them and checkout. Airbnb has implemented new rules that limit guest chores for reservations booked on or after Nov. 20, limiting requests for chores such as removing beds, washing and putting away dishes or disposing of trash off the property. All house rules must be clearly stated in a designated section of the listing, rather than on a message or on a sign inside the rental. The policy also prevents hosts from imposing fines or limiting access to amenities advertised in the listing. Some exceptions may apply, but guests still must follow house rules and are encouraged to honor reasonable requests. Hosts who do not comply with the policy could face warnings or be told to update their listings.
