Ald. Peter Chico Running Unopposed In Southeast Side's 10th Ward
The former police officer is in line for a second term after no challengers submitted petitions to run for the 10th Ward seat. Ald. Peter Chico is running unopposed for the 10th Ward alderperson in Chicago's Southeast Side, setting him up for a second term representing the Southeast Side in City Council. Chico, a former Chicago police officer and child welfare case worker, succeeded Susan Sadlowski-Garza in 2023 after Sadlowowski-garza declined to run for reelection. The former U.S. Steel South Works site in his ward was announced as the site of the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park, the namesake project of the Quantum Shore Chicago megadevelopment. Chica has supported the project, saying it can bring economic development to the ward after the site remained vacant for decades.
