Unique Chicago exercise class uses Motown music to get everyone moving
Even hearing the word exercise can stir up a little dread in many people, but some seniors in Chicago would tell you don't sweat it, just bop to the beat. Free chair workout classes hosted by Chicago Fit 4 Life are held in a ballroom at Royal Estates in Dolton, offering seniors a world-class workout using Motown music. The classes, which also feature a DJ, are held at the same venue every Tuesday. The owner, Siddiqu Muhammad, has been a personal trainer for almost 20 years and decided to expand his reach to include more people in the community. The Motown motivation comes from Siddiqu's mom, Aeasha, who believes the music is a powerful motivator and teaches her to stay healthy. One recent class was dedicated to breast cancer awareness, with many of the participants having survived breast cancer.
