In 1986, Coney graduated from the Law Department at Notre Dame University. Coney won numerous awards for his wonderful work with the immigrant community. She worked as a witness lawyer at the Immigration Bureau until the law was put into practice in 1994. She hosted the weekly advice program "Linea Abierta" on immigration law. The program helped the immigrants eliminate their uneasiness at the immigration office. Coney's first office was in the center of La Vilita, 26th Avenue in Chicago. In 2008, she transferred the practice of law to the town of Kikero.
