90-Degree Temps, Severe Storm Potential To Close Out Week In IL

The weather service has predicted that Wednesday will be warm with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s, with a potential for severe storms in the Chicago area. These storms are expected to mainly be in northwest Illinois, with the strongest expected to bring damaging winds and hail, as well as localized flash flooding. The weather service also noted that potential storms could delay warnings north of I-80/I-88 for the morning, potentially delaying warning north of Interstate Interstate-80. Temperatures will drop slightly for Friday, but the heat will return early next week.

Wednesday will be "warm with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s," the weather service said on its Facebook. The day should be dry, but thunderstorm chances return to the area on Wednesday night. Storms will mostly be in northwest Illinois late Wednesday, according to the weather service.

Thursday will be another warm day, with a high of 91 degrees, and a potential for severe storms in the Chicago area. The strongest storms would bring damaging winds and hail, as well as localized flash flooding, according to the weather service.

"Uncertainties remain due to decaying [morning] storms potentially delaying warning north of I-80/I-88," the weather service said on its Facebook. The severe storm potential would be for Thursday afternoon and evening.

Temperatures will cool just slightly for Friday, which should be dry and sunny with a high of 85 degrees, according to the weather service. The heat will return early next week.
