BREMEN TOWNSHIP, IL — Bremen Township Supervisor Kathryn Straniero announced Tuesday that she will seek reelection next year. She will lead a full slate of candidates that includes supervisor, clerk, assessor, highway commissioner, and four township trustee positions. These candidates will share the same high standards of public service that have defined this current administration, she pledged.

The group is firmly committed to delivering services to all 13 municipalities that encompass Bremen Township in a cost-effective and fiscally responsible manner, she said, and will run under the banner of the Bremen Tax Cutter Party. "We are united in seeking solutions to ease the burden of taxes for all homeowners and share the common-sense belief that partisan party politics should play no role in local government," Straniero added.

Straniero also serves as Executive Director of Together We Cope, a homeless prevention agency serving 27 south suburban communities. She said she views the role of township supervisor as an extension of her life’s work of service to residents and families in need of assistance. To that end, she feels pride in the accomplishments the township has made under her administration. "One of the most gratifying aspects of this administration has been the establishment of Bremen Township Wellness Center, which offers counseling and programs to our youth aged 5-18 free of charge to any resident of Bremen Township," she said, also citing the expansion of the Senior Division with new programs and activities as another highlight.

'The Senior Wheels Program has increased to providing more than 1,000 rides for our seniors each month, and serves as an affordable lifeline for homebound seniors who have no other transportation available," Straniero reported. "In addition, one of the crowning jewels of the township, the Maggie Crotty Walking Path, was completed and opened for residents of all ages to enjoy." Another achievement has been maintaining the township’s status as one of the lowest taxing entities, and being one of the few government agencies without debt by adopting deficit free budgets without tax increases. Being fiscally prudent has been a cornerstone and the hallmark of this administration which empowers us to do more for less, Straniero said.

"The past four years has been a rewarding experience in service to the township, and I hope to proceed in moving forward for another term. I believe that the only way to request a second term is to earn it. I firmly believe that the efforts put forth and the accomplishments we have made warrants consideration. I am asking all residents to give us the opportunity to continue by casting your vote for each and every member of the Straniero team," the supervisor said.
