American Airlines adds 100 new flights from Chicago O’Hare hub

The new flights are part of a commitment to Chicago by American Air, which is trying to fend off a challenge from United. American Airlines is expanding its Chicago O'Hare International Airport operations by adding 100 new daily flights from the airport. The airline is ahead of the Spring Break travel season with additional daily departures to more than 75 destinations. The expansion comes amid a turf war with rival United Airlines, where American and United are dominating the market share. American plans to offer premium seats on every flight from O’Hare after replacing smaller aircraft with dual-class regional jets with WiFi service. The company also plans to increase service between Chicago and DFW Airport, where it operates, to ensure more on-time departures and reduce delays. American's Spring 2026 departures will be a 30% increase from this year, making the airport as American's third-largest hub. The carrier is also making significant investments to its DFW operations ahead of its centennial celebration.
