Much Of Chicago's South Side Without Internet Because Of Comcast Xfinity Outage

Crews are working to restore service, which is expected to be up-and-running by 11:15 p.m. local time. The University of Chicago appeared to be unaffected.

BRONZEVILLE — A huge swath of the South Side is without internet access Wednesday as Xfinity reported widespread outages.

The Comcast-owned internet provider said Wednesday that thousands of Xfinity customers on the South Side were without WI-FI, cable and on-demand services. Outages were reported in Bronzeville, Hyde Park, Woodlawn and South Shore, according to Xfinity’s service outage map.

Crews for the internet provider are working to restore service, which is estimated to be up-and-running by 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Xfinity.

The outage is impacting residences as well as businesses. University of Chicago appeared to be unaffected by the outage.
