Who successfully filed for the Chicago mayoral race
The group includes 16 but now ballot challenges begin. Ten more candidates have filed for the 2027 Chicago mayor's race, bringing the total to 16. The filings suggest that Chicago's tough signature rules have already eliminated at least two potential mayoral hopefuls and could eliminate more before the ballot is finalized in December. Potential candidates in Chicago must collect 12,500 unique signatures, or twice that number to survive the brutal signature challenges. To file for mayor in New York, candidates need 3,750 signatures and only 500 in Los Angeles. Those who have filed and self-reported their signature counts include Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, Mayor Brandon Johnson, Joe Holberg, and Lisa Nee.
