Elmhurst Vets Group Collects Ton Of Scrap Metal
The effort raised money for the Boys State program for high school juniors. S & S Metal Recyclers II of Aurora, Aurora, provided a trailer for the collection of scrap metal at the Elmhurst American Legion in December 2023. The initiative was successful, collecting nearly 1,900 pounds of metal, including aluminum cans, 565 pounds of scrap steel, and 118 pounds of copper. The funds raised from this initiative will go towards the American Legion Boys State Youth Program for high school juniors. The initial results of this initiative were revealed, with $658.61 raised, allowing the program to remain at no cost, including bus transportation to and from Eastern Illinois University. In early December 2023, S & S Metal Recyclers II of Aurora provided at no cost a trailer for the collection of scrap metal at the Elmhurst American Legion.
