Stacy Peterson's disappearance is grim lesson in coercive control, says pastor who counseled her
The pastor who counseled Stacy Peterson during her marriage to Drew Peterson shares why her tragic story is a masterclass in warning signs of domestic abuse that we are only now learning to recognize. Stacy Peterson, a mother of two, disappeared from her Bolingbrook home nearly 20 years ago and her husband, Drew Peterson, has been suspected of her murder. Neil Schori, who was a counseling pastor at the church where Stacy first came to talk about her marriage issues, revealed that her problems were caused by a pattern of behavior designed to control and diminish another person. Schori said that Drew Peterson would always accuse Stacy of affairs and she defended him because he loved her. He also revealed that Stacy kept her secret for years. The case remains unsolved. Schor testified in a previous trial that helped convict Drew Peterson of first-degree murder.
